Need help getting someone out of jail?

Court dates and appointed counsel

Find the right Fulton or city court record, confirm your appearance and apply for eligible public defender services.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Use the court and case number on the citation, bond papers or hearing notice. County and municipal cases use different records. If a date is missing or conflicting, ask the assigned clerk and your attorney. A lookup problem does not cancel an appearance.

Confirm the assigned date and courtroom

For Superior and Magistrate records, the Clerk’s September 11, 2026 service notice directs users to the Fulton County Courts Public Portal while reSearchGA access is unavailable. For State Court, start at its official Search Case Records link; its criminal clerk is 404-613-5085. Ask the office that holds the case to confirm date, time, courtroom or approved remote link and appearance requirements. Clerks report the assigned calendar and filing process; a date change requires court approval. At this review, the Fulton County Courts Public Portal required users to register or sign in before searching. Use its official Register or Sign In controls, or ask the clerk about public access and your assigned date. The State Court FAQ also identifies public access terminals and possible document fees. No result is not proof that no case or hearing exists.

If the paperwork names a city court

Use the municipal court named on the citation or order. Atlanta provides its own Find My Case and public defender routes. City of South Fulton Municipal Court is separate from Fulton County State Court. A city or postal address can cross county lines; it does not establish the jail or county court handling a particular arrest. If a city transfers a case, ask both clerks for the receiving court and new case number, and retain existing notices until the court confirms what changes.

Fulton County includes 15 cities. Start with the city court named on the citation or order, not the nearest courthouse. Use these official routes for current case, hearing and contact instructions. Mountain Park links to city contact information so its clerk can confirm the court arrangement.

The City of South Fulton is a separate municipal government from Fulton County. Some cities extend across county lines. A city address does not establish which county holds a case or a person. If an official site is unavailable, use the clerk contact on the citation or the Fulton County A to Z guide, then expand C and find Cities; an inaccessible record does not cancel an appearance.

Keep complying while asking for a change

Read reporting, treatment, contact, residence and travel requirements as well as appearance dates. Ask counsel about any needed modification and obtain the court’s decision. A request, a clerk conversation or permission from a private company does not by itself amend a judicial condition. Fulton’s first appearance information says conditions continue until the matter concludes or the court modifies them.

Apply for representation through the official office

Fulton provides applications for adult and State/Magistrate cases. The forms ask about the case, income, dependents, assets and expenses. Contact the adult division at 404-612-5200 or State/Magistrate division at 404-612-5419 for the proper application route. Someone in custody should request help through the hearing or jail Public Defender division at 404-613-2232. The currently linked forms state a $50 application fee and court waiver when the person cannot pay or payment would cause hardship; the adult packet includes a waiver motion. Ask for that process if needed. Eligibility and appointment are decided by the responsible office and court. Atlanta municipal representation uses the city’s separate route.

Payable tickets and required appearances

Some eligible citations can be paid through the proper court’s payment system, but many charges and criminal cases require court action first. Atlanta says not all cases qualify for online payment. Fulton State Court likewise lists offenses that cannot be paid before appearing, and payment can be disabled after a missed date. Confirm eligibility with the named court before treating payment as completion. Bail paid to leave custody is separate from a traffic fine or case disposition.

Questions about an existing bail bond?

Ask about the bail bond. Use the court’s current record or notice to confirm the hearing date.
