Need help getting someone out of jail?

Find someone in a Fulton County jail

Use the official search, check a missing booking and confirm which facility and court control release.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Start with the Fulton County Sheriff’s official inmate search. The Sheriff says the database updates once a day, so a missing record or blank bond amount needs a current check. For county charge and bond questions call 404-613-2002 or 404-662-3516. Confirm the actual facility before traveling.

Check the official record

The Sheriff’s inmate search page links its current search service. Match the person carefully using the full name and any booking or identification details you already have. The Sheriff warns that the database updates once per day and may not be complete or accurate. A recent arrest, transfer or release may not yet appear. A search result is a starting point, not confirmation that someone can leave now.

If the search does not load or no matching record appears, contact the county jail at 404-613-2002 or 404-662-3516. Ask the arresting agency which facility received the person if county staff cannot locate them. For someone believed to be at Atlanta City Detention Center, Atlanta directs families to its detention staff with the person’s name and date of birth. Atlanta Corrections: custody questions

Have these questions ready

Ask jail staff to confirm the complete current record, rather than relying on one charge displayed online. Do not send personal identifiers through this independent guide.

  • What is the correct booking or SO number, current facility and custody authority?
  • What are all charges and case numbers, and which court controls each one?
  • Has a judge set release terms for every charge? What total amount, surcharges and bond instruments are required?
  • Is another warrant, probation matter, hold, transfer or court condition still preventing release?
  • Has the required payment or paperwork been accepted, and what is the next step?

Confirm the correct location

The Main Jail front desk is in the lobby at 901 Rice Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. The Sheriff lists it as open 24 hours every day for charge and bond information. This is different from the Bonding Administration office in the Justice Center Tower, which handles cash refund and direct property paperwork.

Atlanta City Detention Center is at 254 Peachtree Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30303; Atlanta Corrections lists 404-865-8001 and 404-865-8010. The Sheriff also lists this Peachtree Street location among its jail locations. Ask which agency controls the person’s release and where that particular bond must be posted. A building address alone does not answer that question.

Do not use the courthouse or Sheriff’s headquarters as a default pickup location. Ask the holding facility for release and pickup instructions. For a child, use the Juvenile Court route in the family guide.
